Javier Antonio García Expósito (Javier Latorre) Valencia 1963.
He began dancing at the age of 5 in variety shows, village festivals, and various events. At 16, he joined the Spanish National Ballet under the direction of Antonio Gades, reaching the rank of soloist under Antonio Ruiz Soler "Antonio" and rising to principal dancer with the arrival of María de Ávila as director. In 1988, he founded his first company, "Ziryab Danza," with which he premiered his first choreographic works. To date, he has created more than 60 works for more than 20 companies, including ballets, operas, zarzuelas, musicals, television series, and films.
He has collaborated with musicians and composers such as Enrique Morente, Lagartija Nick, Vicente Amigo, Mauricio Sotelo, Juan M. Cañizares, Chicuelo, Josep Pons, Manuel Coves…. Stage and film directors such as Carlos Saura, Miguel Narros, Paco López, Andrés Lima, Pepe Quero, Emilio Hernández, Hansel Cereza (La fura dels Baus)….
A regular collaborator with the Spanish National Ballet, he has created works such as "Poeta" and "Luz de Alma" (1998) under the direction of Aída Gómez. "El Loco" (2004) with Elvira Andrés and its subsequent revival (2022) with Rubén Olmo leading the company; and "Ángeles Caídos" (2011) with Antonio Najarro.
Winner of three prizes in the National Art Competition Flamenco of Córdoba in 1989, including the “Antonio” Award for the most complete dancer. Winner of the Desplante Award in 1994 at the La Unión Festival (Murcia). Giraldillo Award for best choreography at the Seville Biennial in 2002 for “Rinconete y Cortadillo”. Critics’ Award at the Jerez Festival in 2003 for “Rinconete y Cortadillo”. Flamenco Today, 2003 for “Rinconete y Cortadillo,” Canal Sur’s “El Público” Award, 2004 for “Triana, en el nombre de la Rosa.” Giraldillo Award for Mastery at the 2012 Seville Biennial. Silver Slipper from the Indanza Association of Almería. 2011 National Dance Award (Creation).
Today, he combines his work as a choreographer with teaching, giving courses and master classes around the world, and continues to collaborate as a guest artist in various productions.
