The Sevillian dancer Glory of the Rosary landed on the Jerez Festival From your hand, a good example of the legacy of Merche Esmeralda, whom he considers his great teacher and whose choreographies he revives are indisputable references in the history of dance, so irrefutable that they led to new aesthetic dynamics.
In this regard, it is necessary to emphasize the attitude of the new values towards what is now tradition and their efforts to insert models of innovation with technical pretensions, but also seeking progress in productive and aesthetic quality, which is, ultimately, what will allow them to participate competitively in national and international cultural markets.
This is how this montage understands it, which in its premiere started with the teacher Merche Esmeralda drawing the decorations of the Arab whim, Francisco Tarrega, since, in reality, she is the student's teacher godmother, Gloria del Rosario, and that on this occasion the memory remains because it is always the score of a master class on how art, from the slogans and musical times, can create the modernity of body language.
Let us also state that Gloria del Rosario frames the seguiriya with a shawl in an atmosphere very well designed from the choreography, in the same way that she proposes the cantiña with a bata de cola, with which, in addition to mastering the complementary resources and executing an overwhelming “cambré” –understood as “arched”–, she reconciles both tensions in a certain way, the dramatic traction and the distinctly Sevillian style, but in perfect synchrony with the rear.
In the concatenation of the movements mentioned, the sung dialogue between the well-tuned tessitura of Manuel Peralta and the depth of Pepe de Pura does not allow any fragility, while Gloria del Rosario evokes a fragment of Medea, Manolo Sanlucar, where the timelessness of the tempo, the cadence and the variations of the movement provide a spectacular moment, that of those memories that lead to the chill that never stops for a second.
«We value how the student, from the wise teachings of the teacher, transforms the dance flamenco in a language system that, in addition to being aware of rhythms and values of different generational significance, hybridize in its body and integrate until they emerge as its own»
It was necessary to offer a counterpoint, the proclamation of Manuel Peralta and, fundamentally, the one that Gloria del Rosario provides with the guajira, organized from the reference patterns of the teacher Merche Esmeralda, in addition to the garrotín, dances in which, without there being a clash of styles, Gloria del Rosario, with skill of correctly organized steps, It takes us to the blessed routine of what is well done, to the exploration of the ritual of what always was.
And to confirm the high quality of the proposal, the imaginary step for two of Gloria del Rosario who, with her mind set on the codes of Merche Esmeralda, offers us with great audacity the sevillanas of Manuel Pareja-Obregon, making it clear that proposing an avant-garde movement without cause or purpose is burning the boats of the identity culture that brought us to the port of Marca España.
I do not forget that the musical part of the trio behind was graceful in its desire to provide verisimilitude to each block, or that the costumes contributed to the visual packaging and even ritualized the movements, which to be honest would not have had an impact if they had not been carried out by Gloria del Rosario's chameleon-like ability and her ability to adapt to very different styles.
From your hand It is, therefore, a short-format montage that demands flexibility in the exposition and a double effort for the variety of accents, but above all of very good workmanship, since it is achieved with elegance apart from a delicate approach full of balance, It says a lot about someone who has relived a chapter that not everyone dares to face..
We value, as a conclusion, how the student, from the wise teachings of the teacher, transforms the dance flamenco in a language system that, in addition to being aware of rhythms and values of different generational significance, hybridize in its body and integrate until they emerge as its own.
