Expoflamenco has closed the year 2023 with a selection of the ten best albums flamencos according to the votes of its editors and contributors. The beneficiary of the most mentions has turned out to be the album Sieve from the young guitarist from Alicante Alejandro Hurtado, to whom we wanted to present the distinction during an audiovisual interview recorded in Thomas House, a charming restaurant in Alcalá de Guadaíra, Seville. The other artists selected were, in this order, Enrique El Extremeño, José María Gallardo & Miguel Ángel Cortés, Israel Fernández, Juan Ramón Caro, José Carlos Gómez, Gaspar de Holanda, Calixto Sánchez, Gregorio Moya and Juan Habichuela Nieto.
The only requirement for this selection, as you can imagine, was that the disc in question was from flamenco. So, from the start, this humble and honest list is a thousand leagues away from those other pseudo awardsjondos that are delivered from time to time under the media spotlight.
In this first edition we have only been able to deliver an honorary diploma, as you can see at the end of the attached video, but for future occasions we will try to design an attractive statuette and increase the number of winners to three: best album of cante, best solo album and young artist.
«I always want to put flamenco guitar in the foreground» (Alejandro Hurtado)

Alejandro Hurtado
He is only 29 years old and is already a reference for young guitarists and veteran friends of the sonanta. Sieve He is a compendium of talent and abilities, proof that in addition to being a great copyist of the classics, he is also capable of speaking his own language. The future of flamenco guitar is in his prodigious hands.
Henry the Extremaduran
He is the great master of the tablao, of cante back, with a voice sound that seems to come from some world under the earth. Half a century singing, that is, almost all his life, and he continues to fight with the cante as in its beginnings. Fifty years of Cante, his latest work, is a resounding work of cante and touch.
Jose Maria Gallardo and Miguel Angel Cortes
An old Sevillian guitarist, Antonio Pena, told me that of a classical guitarist and a flamenco only a dream could come out. Albéniz flamenco That's it, a musical dream, a prodigy of sonic beauty not devoid of flamenco quality. Talent in abundance in both, it is one of the best albums of recent years.
Israel Fernandez
She has the gift, the grace of a singing voice and a youth that ensures more albums like Pure blood, the push of a new value. He is young but not a beginner, because he has been singing since he was a child. The new voice of the young people, who see in him a new beacon to shine on them. Time will tell if he is or is not the light we were missing.
Juan Ramon Caro
He plays like a God and also sings like an angel. Very expensive It is one of the best albums of recent years. A humble artist, with a romantic bent, he has what we call a seal, a very personal air and an original way of composing flamenco pieces.
Jose Carlos Gomez
Algeciras has been a land of flamenco for centuries and, above all, the birthplace of the greatest guitarist of all time, Paco de Lucía. José Carlos Gómez is from Algeciras and a disciple of the genius. Las huellas de Dios is, therefore, the consequence of both things. The conviction that he was not born in that place by chance.
Gaspar of Holland
His vocation is complete. Dutch and based in Huelva, he is a flamenco a person who loves music more than anything in the world. Meetings flamencos, their second album, is irrefutable proof of what we say: it oozes love, passion, enthusiasm and commitment to authenticity without being dated.
Calixto Sanchez
Years are not always synonymous with ailments. Forty-four years will be the year of his achievement at the 1st Biennial of Flamenco, conquering the Giraldillo with all merit. Don Calixto Sánchez Marín is already a friendly grandfather of Mairena del Alcor, an institution of the canteHis work is proof of artistic life.
Gregory Moya
In classical music, a copyist is always an artist respected by everyone. As long as he is a great copyist, that is, someone who sticks to the score. Gregorio Moya is a great copyist of Enrique Morente, but this does not mean that he is a crude imitator. They are two different things. Nobody sleeps It is a great album that pays tribute to a genius.
Juan Habichuela Nieto
The greyhound runs in blood. It is difficult to find a young, contemporary guitarist with such amazing abilities as those of the grandson of the great maestro. Eight hugs for Lorca It is a work with soul. If he were alive, Lorca would have made a vignette about it. Strength, refined technique and great sensitivity.
