One more season Embassy of Spain in Morocco starts its cycle Ramadan nights with collaboration from the Instituto Cervantes. In its 2025 edition, the cycle will tour six Moroccan cities from March 7 to 22, with the focus on flamenco.
Among the featured artists are the formation Mediterranean Women, which mixes oriental rhythms with the flamenco; Flamenco, a formation composed only of women with the flamenco as the axis of their shows; and the Ensemble Sidi Thami Lmdeghri with the guitarist flamenco Simo Baazzaoui, among others.
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, a concert by the Ensemble Sidi Thami Imdeghri del Melhun with Simo Baazzaoui will be held at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat. The performance begins at around 22:00 p.m. and is free until capacity is reached.
"Ramadan Nights 2025 is a concert series celebrating the musical and cultural richness shared between Spain and Morocco during the Muslim holy month."
In this show, melhun music is fused with the toque flamenco"Since its creation in 1998, the Ensemble Sidi Thami Ilmdeghri del Melhoun of Fez, chaired by Youssef Soussi, has participated in numerous national and international events and festivals. It is considered a pioneering association of melhoun art in Fez and Morocco," according to the Cervantes Institute.
For his part, Simo Baazaoui is a guitarist flamenco who has given concerts in various countries such as Spain, France, and Jordan. Baazaoui has been building bridges between Spain and Morocco through his music for a decade. "For the musician, just as poetry and music are part of the same language, music of different styles can also come together as one, because they speak of common feelings, such as love or freedom, albeit from different perspectives," explain the organizers.
These Ramadan Nights 2025 are "a series of concerts that celebrate the musical and cultural richness shared between Spain and Morocco during the Muslim holy month," confirms the Spanish Embassy in Morocco.
